Biographies

Dr Janice Fernandes (f) MRCGP DRCOG
I graduated in 2005, completing my GP training on the Watford training scheme in 2010.
I started working as a partner at the Colne Surgery in 2012.
My special interest is Lifestyle Medicine and the impact of non-pharmacological approaches to the prevention and treatment of chronic disease.


Dr Nasreen Yahya (f) MD MRCGP DRCOG
I completed my GP training on the Watford GP training scheme in 2010 and then worked in Hitchin for a few years before joining the Colne Practice in 2014. 
I am the practice lead for the Anticoagulation service. 
I am also the practice lead for Dementia and Mental health. 
I also have an interest in medical education.


Dr Reema Parekh (f) MBChB MRCGP PGCME
Having obtained my medical degree at Leicester University, I completed foundation training in Northampton and general practice training in Watford. I trained at The Colne Practice for a short period in 2012 and joined as a partner in 2016. I am one of the safeguarding leads and am also interested in medical education.
I take pride in being part of a practice that focuses on patient-centred care and continuity of care.


Dr Sanober Haq (f) MBBS MRCGP DRCOG
I graduated in 2002 and have more than ten years of experience in Emergency medicine.
I have been a GP at Colne Practice since 2019. I have a special interest in managing Diabetes, Lifestyle Medicine, and undertaking Motivational Interviewing. I am currently the clinical lead for Adult and Child Safeguarding. I have a special interest in education and training, holding roles as a tutor for Brunel Medical School and a qualified GP trainer. I joined general practice because of my passion for patient care and building strong relationships with patients and their families. 


Dr Rajesh Varma (m) MA(Cantab) PhD MRCGP MRCOG MBBS PGDip (Oxon)
As a GP Partner at The Colne Practice since 2021, I offer a robust blend of academic and clinical expertise. I hold a medical degree from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the University of Birmingham, and I have previously served as a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology. I advocate personalised care and am keen to empower patient choice. Beyond my clinical duties, I am passionate about shaping future physicians through my roles as a GP trainer and undergraduate tutor at Cambridge Medical School. 


Dr Faruq Fazal (m) MBBS MRCGP SFHEA
I graduated from UCL medical school in 2013 and carried out my GP training in North West London.
I have been a GP partner at the Colne Practice since January 2022.
I have a special interest in medical education and am an undergraduate tutor for a variety of medical schools.


Dr Lina Chopra (f) BSc MBBS MRCGP
I studied chemistry at Queen Mary University of London before continuing to study medicine at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. I undertook GP training at St Mary’s Hospital and West Herts Hospital Foundation Trust. I became a salaried GP at Colne Practice in 2020.
I really enjoy working with our fantastic practice team. I am keen on adopting a holistic approach to patient care and actively participate in undergraduate student teaching and medical education.
I have a specialt interest in Menopause. I serve on the committee for the West Herts Medical Society.


Dr Difijah Ramaneswaran (f) MBChB MRCGP
I am a newly qualified GP who joined the practice in November 2023.
I studied medicine at the University of Liverpool and graduated in 2018.
I have expertise in Women’s Health (including menopause) and Ear Nose Throat medicine.
Along with colleagues at our practice, I look forward to providing the best care for our patients, which includes upholding individualised and continuity of care principles.
