NHS staff should be able to come to work without fear of violence, abuse or harassment from patients or their relatives.
This practice adopts the NHS zero tolerance approach in the event of violence or abuse from a patient. Such behaviour will result in the patient being removed from the practice list and the Registration Department being informed.
This practice supports and adheres to the NHS core principles contained in Chapter 1 of the NHS publication ‘Your Guide to the NHS’. Patients are asked to support and adhere to the guidance ‘Your commitment to the NHS’ in Chapter 2.
A copy of the guide is available from Reception.
Where patients are disruptive and display aggressive and/or intimidating behaviour and refuse to leave the premises, staff are instructed to dial 999 for Police assistance, and charges may then be brought against these individuals.
